Two injured after motorcycle collides with deer in Somerset

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Two people were injured after being thrown from the motorcycle they were riding when it collided with a deer on Lake Road about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

A man on the motorcycle was flown to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight after he reported losing feeling in his legs. A woman on the motorcycle was also flown to ECMC with facial and head injuries. Sheriff's officials said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The couple were traveling west on Lake Road when the deer crossed into their path. The impact caused the man to lose control of the motorcycle and leave the roadway, driving into a ditch.

The deceased deer was removed from the scene by Somerset Highway Department employees.

The names of the man and woman were not released Sunday afternoon.
