Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The Lockport High School Foundation announced its 2013 class of Distinguished Alumni.

The seventh class of honored graduates include:

• Dr. Helen (Hess) Cappucino, cancer surgeon, Class of 1981

• Wayne Ginty, teacher and coach at Lockport, Class of 1973

• William Hayes, administrator and professor, Class of 1956

• Dr. Daniel Kastner, chief of the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation in the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, Class of 1969

• Joseph Kibler, alderman-at-large for the city of Lockport, Class of 1951

• John Miller, mathematics professor and developer of the “xyAlgebra” software, Class of 1956

• Miles Patterson, peer mediator, security and coach at Lockport, Class of 1982

• Michael Tucker, mayor of the city of Lockport, Class of 1975

The induction ceremony will take place on Aug. 22 in the auditorium at Lockport High School. The event will begin with a reception starting at 6:30 p.m. followed by the ceremony at 7 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend the reception and ceremony to meet this year’s distinguished alumni.
