Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A report of a reckless driver on Stone Road led to several charges for a West Seneca woman early Monday.
Nicole M. Szczepankiewicz, 26, 1405 East and West Road, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, third-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property accident.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a state trooper in an unmarked vehicle initiated a traffic stop on Szczepankiewicz's vehicle around 7:15 a.m. Monday. Szczepankiewicz appeared intoxicated and confused, and her vehicle was missing a tire and appeared to have suffered significant damage, the responding deputy reported; smoke coming off of the rim suggested that she drove a lengthy distance without the tire.
When asked about the rim, Szczepankiewicz said she felt the wheel shaking, but thought she could make it home to West Seneca. She also said that another car had hit hers and pushed it into a guardrail. The deputy could not determine whether that was the cause of the damage seen on her vehicle.
Szczepankiewicz claimed to have no idea where she was, and believed it to be around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, instead of 7:15 a.m. Monday, the deputy reported. A civilian witness told the deputy that Szczepankiewicz was "all over the road."
Hypodermic syringes, 39 suspected Clozazepam pills, a spoon and numerous wax papers associated with the sale of heroin were reportedly found in the woman's purse.
Szczepankiewicz was taken to the Niagara County Jail on $250 bail. She is due in Lockport Town Court on May 6.
