No questions asked on Roy-Hart budget

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The Royalton-Hartland Central School District held a public hearing on the 2014-15 proposed budget last night, with no district residents coming out to ask questions.

Business Administrator Kelly Griffith presented the estimated budget to a handful of Roy-Hart students and district employees who were in attendance. The proposed 2014-15 school budget of $22.3 million is up by 1.56 percent, $343,884 over last year’s budget of $22 million. The projected tax levy, at 2.9 percent, is $9.6 million, $300,000 more than the 2013-14 levy.

The estimated  average tax rate is $22.08 per $1,000 of assessed value, and is higher than the current average rate at $21.45. The rate, however, may change due to final assessment numbers and equalization rates from the towns of Royalton and Hartland, Griffith said. Assessment rolls won’t be finalized until July.

A budget vote will be held on May 20 from noon to 8 p.m. in the Roy-Hart High School gym.
