Credit service coming to Lockport

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Consumer Credit Counseling Service is launching its second Niagara County location in Lockport next week in partnership with the Dale Association.

A ribbon cutting will be held for the new office, 33 Ontario St., at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting, said Maureen A. Wendt, president and CEO of the Dale Association.

“The Dale Association is pleased to welcome Consumer Credit Counseling Service to our Lockport Centre at 33 Ontario St.,” Wendt said. “We’re excited about this partnership which will enhance Niagara County’s ability to focus on the financial stability of families.”

CCCS’s first office in Niagara County was opened in 2013 in Niagara Falls

Citing the large number of Lockport households living under or near the poverty level, CCCS is looking to assist struggling families with taking control of their financial situations, the organization said in a press release. To that end, the organization launched the Niagara County Financial Literacy Coalition last fall. The coalition aims to provide financial coaching for low-income populations through partnerships with over 25 human service providers in the area.

“We are proud to launch this much needed service in Niagara County,” said Paul C. Atkinson, president and CEO of CCCS. “Our goal is to provide the community with financial education that will help them attain security and success.”

Being able to offer resources for low-income families to attain financial stability fits the Dale Association’s mission, Wendt said.

“This has been a growing area of need for people of all ages in this community,” she said.

Members of the public who wish to attend the ribbon cutting can RSVP to Tara Vogel at 712-2062.
