Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lockport town residents have a chance to offer up an opinion on their hometown, as a new survey is available for them to take.
Councilman Mark C. Crocker said the 19-question survey is now available online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/lockporttown. In the next few weeks, the survey link will be on the town’s website home page at elockport.com.
Also available is a QR code, an icon that will take the user to the survey on the Smart Monkey website when the code is scanned by a smartphone. And the survey will be given out with the town’s summer newsletter as well, which typically reaches about 7,000 homes when it’s mailed out next month.
Residents will be able to drop off or mail completed surveys to Crocker at Lockport Town Hall, 6560 Dysinger Road.
In March, Crocker first brought up the idea of sending out another survey, something the town has not done since 2006. There wouldn’t be a deadline for responses, but Crocker said it usually doesn’t take long for people to respond.
“Last time, there was a rush in the beginning, then nothing,” he said. “So we’ll take ‘em through the end of the summer.”
A report on the results could come in August or September, Crocker said.
Questions would focus on town topics, such as the development of South Transit Road or issues such as water or sewer problems, road repair and sidewalks. Residents would also be asked about the type of retail they’d prefer to see in Lockport and in what areas the town could improve in or what projects the town should focus on.
There’s also a few newer questions, such as whether residents would be open to receiving the town newsletter via email or having the website or emergency alerts available on mobile devices.
