Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The Buffalo Bisons could produce just one run in six hits, losing Sunday afternoon to the Pawtucket Red Sox, 3-1, at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, RI.
It was a disappointing debut for Bisons pitcher Sean Nolin (0-1), who was called up from Class AA New Hampshire and got the start against the PawSox. He struck out four and gave up just two runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings of work, but had no support from Buffalo’s offense and took the loss.
The Bisons’ only run came off a solo home run by Clint Robinson in the sixth inning, his second homer of the season.
The loss also puts Buffalo further behind in their bid to secure a playoff position. Buffalo (67-62) is still in third place in the International League North and trails the PawSox (68-60) by two games in the division. The first place Rochester Red Wings (71-59) also won on Sunday, widening that gap by 3 1/2 games.
The same two teams will play again tonight in Pawtucket, with the opening pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Kyle Drabek (1-0) is scheduled to start for the Bisons while Clayton Mortensen (2-0) is expected to take the mound for the Red Sox.
