Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The 2013 Community Health Assessment survey is posted online for Niagara County residents until May 24.
The survey, which started in early April, helps the county health department figure out how to improve local health care. After the survey period ends, Public Health will work with local hospitals and community partners to identify key priority areas and suggest plans to help improve residents' health.
The confidential survey consists of 16 questions and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. It inquires generically about respondents' lifestyles, current health and perceptions of wellness. To complete it, go to www.niagaracounty.com/health and select the surveymonkey link.
Community Health Assessments are done by all county health departments in New York every four years. They provide a snapshot of a given population's health-and-wellness strengths and needs. Local health departments are pushed by the state to partner with community groups and meet some of the needs.
