Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Members of the International Association of Fire fighters will take to the streets of Lockport from 7-11 a.m. on May 21 for the "Fill the Boot" drive for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The Local 963 of hopes to fill its annual fundraising pledge of $7,000 to support MDA's research programs and the association's 200 medical clinics nationwide. Members will be as several intersections during the morning rush hour.
IAFF became the first national sponsor for the MDA in 1954 and firefighters have raised millions of dollars ro improve and enhance the lives of those living with neuromuscular disease. Money is raised through the Fill the Boot campaign and golf and softball tournaments.
The MDA is a nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy.
