Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A local band is getting some national exposure.
Colors In The Air, a rock/alternative band from Lockport and Niagara Falls, will be making their first national television appearance on USA’s “Royal Pains” at 9 p.m. tonight.
Playing together since 2005, the band’s members include Brian Miller on vocals, keys and guitar, Justin Walker as the lead guitarist, Pat Williams on drums and backing vocals and Mike McGranor on bass. Colors In The Air also has Eric Lukasik on percussion.
Williams, who started working in production on Royal Pains in February, said the band has had its music played on TV in before. Some of their songs have been played on channels such as the Golf Channel and the Oprah Winfrey Network.
But that was just to provide music for some shows and commercials. But this was certainly different.
“They asked for a song, then they needed a band to appear,” Williams said.
Royal Pains will feature the track “Going Home” from CITA’s third and most recent full-length album, Mirror Mirror. On Tuesday Williams said the show will use a second Colors In The Air song, “Fly High.”
The band went to the Hamptons in March to shoot the episode. Miller said the band met the producers but didn’t get to meet any of the cast. The set, on which 150 to 200 people typically work, was very busy during the band’s time there.
“It was a good time,” Miller said. “It was cool to see the producers... It was pretty busy the whole day.”
Williams said about 150 extras appeared in the episode, which is titled “Pregnant Paws” and is the fourth of the fifth season. Even though he’s working with such a huge group, Williams said it felt like a family.
“It’s a tight group, awesome to work with,” he said.
