Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for Western New York beginning Tuesday evening.
The advisory, covering Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Wayne, Wyoming and northern Cayuga counties, is in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday through 11 a.m. Wednesday. With winds of 10 to 15 mph, wind chill temperatures could be as low as 20 degrees below zero, NWS said.
People who must be outside during the advisory period are reminded to dress warmly and make sure all skin is covered. Prolonged exposure to the cold could cause frostbite or hypothermia.
NWS' forecasted high and low temperatures for Lockport are 6 and minus 1 degrees Tuesday and 9 and 3 degrees Wednesday.
