Downtown parking survey to get under way

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Two graduate students from the University of Buffalo will begin a downtown parking survey next week.

Students Amanda Fowler and Leyla Akhundzada will assess existing parking, talk with business owners about their needs and draft recommendations for improving the parking situation downtown.

The students, retained by Common Council President Anne McCaffrey as summer interns, will work on the survey three to four days a week and will submit a formal report of their findings and recommendations to the Council.

The students will start their project Monday, when they're set to meet with an advisory group of police/city officials and business community representative Heather Peck.
