A note to our subscribers

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The Lockport Union-Sun & Journal would like to remind our readers that we are an afternoon newspaper, and our carriers have until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (8 a.m. on weekends) to deliver the paper to your homes. Only local stores are guaranteed to receive the US&J in the morning.

Some of our subscribers are fortunate to have adult carriers who deliver the newspaper in the morning. However, as carriers become ill or step down from their jobs, we cannot guarantee that their replacements will also deliver the US&J in the morning.

All of our paper carriers are signed as independent contractors and therefore the US&J is not allowed to dictate delivery time; we can only impose a daily end time, or deadline.

The US&J is also one of the few businesses that still provides local youths an opportunity to obtain their first job delivering the paper. With our youth carriers attending area schools, most of them don't have an opportunity to deliver the US&J until school recesses for the day.

We strive for timely delivery of the US&J every day but there are occasions when delivery is late and sometimes situations arise that are beyond our control. Subscribers who do not receive their paper by 4:30 p.m. weekdays or 8 a.m. weekends are asked to call (716) 439-9222, ext. 6231.

For those who wish to read the US&J in the morning, an online e-edition which is produced in the morning is available at daily, monthly and yearly fees. Print subscribers may also subscribe to the e-edition for an additional penny per day.

Information on our e-edition can be found online at http://lockportjournal.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx
