Lockport Union-Sun & Journal
Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lockport is included as one of three Western New York sites that will be part of Paranormal Walks in September, October and November.
Lockport’s mile-long, 90-minute historical stroll will meet on Saturdays, Sept. 14 through Nov. 2 at Lake Effect Artisan Ice Cream Cafe, 79 Canal St. Admission is $10, with children under 7 free. Free refreshments are included with admission.
The walks begin at 7 p.m.
“Our walks are like nothing you have ever seen,” according to John Koerner, a professor of history at Niagara County Community College. “We tell historical stories about a wide range of paranormal events, all intensely researched such as folklore, ghosts, UFOs, historical mysteries, miracles, strange creatures, vampires, conspiracies, strange deaths, demons, angels, and secret societies.”
Koerner, a co-founder of Paranormal Works, said Lockport is one of WNY’s oldest towns and has yielded a truly bizarre past.
Other walks are in Buffalo on Wednesdays and Hamburg on Fridays.
“Our tours are based on original research conducted by Paranormal Walks,” Koerner said.”Our approach is of the historian, and the objective researcher.”
Each stop will feature a different scientific device employed by researchers. Participants will see and perhaps have the chance to use the lastest paranormal equipment in the field.
No reservations are required and parking is free at the Discovery Center. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House on West Ferry in Buffalo, the Wyndham Family Home for Children in Lockport, and the Hamburg Disabled Veterans.
Koerner has appeared on the History Channel’s “America’s Book of Secrets: Presidential Assassins” and William Shatner’s “Weird or What: Paranormal Mysteries.” on the History Channel. He has written “The Secret Plot to Kill McKinley.”
