Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — This year's edition of the National Buffalo Wing Festival not only begins this weekend in Buffalo but will be dedicated in memory of Lockport's Brian Kahle.

The festival will run from noon until 9 p.m. today and noon until 7 p.m. Sunday at Coca-Cola Field in downtown Buffalo. Admission is $5, but kids 9 and under are free. Jumbo chicken wings are $1.

Over 35 local and out-of-town restaurants will be featured, serving over 100 different styles of chicken wings. Other foods include pizza, chicken wing soup, chicken fingers, ice cream and more.

The U.S. Chicken Wing Eating Championship – one of the main events for the festival – will be held Sunday. Heavenly Chilbillies will perform as the main stage house band, at 2 and 7 p.m. today and 6 p.

Kahle, a long-time public relations specialist, was instrumental in promoting the Wing Festival during its early days about 12 years ago. He had gained fame as a television personality for WKBW-TV, then for running his own relations firm called Magic Marketing. He also had a weekly television and radio show on WLVL-AM.

Kahle passed away in May at the age of 68.
