Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —
A debate among Lockport-area county Legislature candidates, scheduled for Thursday at Lockport Town Hall, has been postponed.
The debate, organized by the Niagara USA Chamber and the Lockport Business Association, was to involve candidates for office in the 11th, 12th and 15th Niagara County legislative districts.
Among challengers to incumbent legislators, only 12th District Democratic candidate Anthony Molinaro had responded to the invitation but could not make the date, according to Kory Schuler, director of government affairs for Niagara USA Chamber.
Other challengers, Democratic party-backed candidates Davis Naus in the 11th legislative district, and Joshua Walker in the 15th legislative district, did not respond to the invitation, Schuler said.
Incumbent legislators Tony Nemi, I-11th district, Richard Updegrove, R-12th district, and Michael Hill, R-15th district, all accepted the invitation, according to Schuler.
"Due to a personal issue with Mr. Molinaro and the lack of response from either Mr. Walker or Mr. Naus, I felt it necessary to postpone his forum until we had the cooperation of all candidates so the business owners and community as a whole have the opportunity to hear what all candidates bring to the table," Schuler said.
