The group gathered at the school on Godfrey Road in Burt to meet the faculty and tour the building. Then it was back to Olcott for food and activities. The Lions Club donated the refreshments to all of the students and their families. The garden is dedicated to the late Pete DeAngelo and other families’ loved ones. The project started when the city loaned the group a vacant lot on Genesee Street in an area where neighborhood deterioration was becoming evident. The group said the idea was to set an example in a failing city block with the hope of turning it around.
