FRIDAY: Ex-manager accused of theft from NY bowling group (9:58 p.m.)

UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — State police say a 54-year-old man stole as much as $200,000 from a state bowling association while serving as its manager.

Stephen Donahue of Weedsport is accused of taking the money from the United States Bowling Congress Association using an ATM debit card while he was visiting the Turning Stone Resort and Casino. Investigators say the withdrawals happened from September 2006 through May 2008.

Donahue managed the state association for 23 years. National officials removed Donahue from office in May and are conducting their own investigation into his activities.

A call to Donahue’s home was not answered and his lawyer’s name wasn’t immediately available. Donahue is charged with second-degree grand larceny, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
