WEDNESDAY: Gas prices in Lockport shoot up nine cents (4:12 p.m.)

Record setting gas prices continue to skyrocket in the Lockport area with a nine cent increase. On average, prices are $3.91 a gallon.
AAA East Central said it is the ninth weekly record prices have set since March 11.
Oil is pushing toward $130 per barrel and the national average price of gasoline reaching $3.80 a gallon. AAA said it believes the trend for gasoline prices will continue to climb higher during Memorial Day. Nearly 31.7 million Americans, (83 percent of all holiday travelers) are expected to travel by automobile, although it is a one percent decrease from last year’s 32 million who drove.
AAA is offering online tools to help travelers plan and budget their fuel requirements for road trips. Motorists can visit www.fuelcostcalculator.com, where they can enter the make and model of their vehicle, origin and destination for their trip to get an up to date fuel cost estimate.
