BARKER —

Daniel J. Baker of Barker, NY, survived by his loving wife, Sally Kenyon Baker, entered into rest on Monday, January 6, 2014 at home. He was born in Buffalo, NY on December 24, 1926, the son of the late Charles and Christina Miller Baker.
Dan was a US Marine during WW II, serving his country from February 21, 1945 to August 25, 1946. He married Sally Kenyon on August 27, 1949. They moved to Barker in 1953 from Olcott, NY. He owned and operated The Village Store in Barker, NY for 20 years until his retirement in 1992. Dan was a member of Our Lady of Lake R.C. Church St. Patrick's Site in Barker. He also was the Chaplain for the Herbert R. Carr VFW Post in Barker for many years and served on the Ethics Committee for the Village of Barker. Dan enjoyed working in his yard and keeping his gardens perfect. He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dan had his own golf course on his property, a 6-hole course.
Father of Jack (Donna) Baker of South Carolina, Garry (Dian) Baker of New Hampshire, James (Kathleen) Baker of Lockport and Patrick (Belinda) Baker of Barker, NY. Brother of Betty Klink of North Tonawanda, NY. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1708 Pallister Ave., BARKER, NY on WEDNESDAY from 7-9 PM and THURSDAY from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on FRIDAY at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Parish St. Patrick's site, Quaker Road, Barker, NY. Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials to Barker Lions Club or Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
