John D. Pittsley, Sr.

LOCKPORT —

John D. Pittsley, Sr., passed away at 85 years old on September 1, 2013 at home in Westerville, OH, surrounded by family. He was born on May 3, 1928 in DuBois, PA to the late Merton and Kathryn Fye Pittsley.
John served as a Marine in both WWII and the Korean War. He retired from GM-Harrison Radiator in Lockport NY and was active at the Lockport and Westerville Senior Centers. He also volunteered for the Red Cross. John was a versatile athlete and avid sports fan. He especially loved baseball whether watching it for hours on TV or being at a game with his family.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy Stebbins Pittsley; sisters, Ellen Brobst and Alberta Wargo; and brother, James J. Pittsley. John was the devoted father of Kathryn Jenks of Westerville, John "Jack" D. (Janis Billingsley) Pittsley, Jr. of Lockport, NY, Howard M. (Tammie) Pittsley of Savannah, GA and Dorothy "Dee" (Kenneth) Harrah of Westerville; and the loving grandfather of twelve and great-grandfather of four. He is also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 11 AM - 1 PM, followed by a memorial service to be held at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, NY. 14094. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a Hospice of your choosing.
