Raymond Lloyd Bennett

LOCKPORT — Raymond Lloyd Bennett passed away, suddenly, August 8, 2013. Born June 24, 1952 in  Bronx, NY, he was the son of Raymond and Beatrice Weaver Bennett.

Raymond was a 1971 graduate of Rice High School in the Bronx. He moved to Lockport in 1985. Raymond was a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Army/USAR serving in Southwest Asia, and left to serve in the Gulf War on Thanksgiving Day 1985, as a medic, with the 865th Combat Support Hospital, ending his career in 2002 as a First Sergeant. Raymond worked as an LPN from 1994 to 2010 at the Erie County Medical Center, and for six years for the Venture Forthe LPN/PCA.  

Ray is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rita (nee O'Connell) Bennett; father of Gideon (Chasidy) Bennett of Greenbrier, TN, Nathaniel Bennett of Lockport, Trevor Bennett of Lockport, Samuel Bennett of Lockport, Brandon McKenzie of Lockport, Eric Kocsis of Buffalo, and Nikki Kocsis of Cheektowaga; grandfather of Aiden, Olivia, Sincere and Meya Lynn. He is also survived by his siblings, Wendel Bennett of Bronx, NY, Carolyn Smith of Bronx, NY, and Walter Weaver of Yonkers. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 AM. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
