Letta Butcher

LOCKPORT — Letta Butcher, lifelong resident of Lockport, entered into rest February 1, 2014, at Briody HCF, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 16, 1925 in Oakfield, NY, she was the daughter of Franco And Felica (Bonuito) "Country" Contestabile.  

She worked at Harrison Radiator main plant for over 31 years as an inspector. She also was one of the first women to work at Simonds Saw and Steel during World War II.

Letta was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Butcher, Jr. on July 30, 1995.

Letta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her beloved children, Frances (Russell "Dutch") Woodmancy, John (Cookie) Butcher and Gary (Barbara) Butcher. Cherished grandmother of Sarah Kyle, Ashley Butcher, Julianna and Eric Butcher. Dear aunt of James and Frank Butcher. Great-aunt of Jonathan and Andrew, Lucinda and Jennifer Butcher. Also survived by sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. Predeceased by a sister, Bessie Russell. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Dear lifelong friend of  Claudio and Amelia Neglia.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 PM on Tuesday at the TAYLOR & REYNOLDS Funeral Home, corner of Transit and Niagara Streets, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery. Memorials in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, PO Box 164, Youngstown, NY 14174.
