A Mechanical Engineer by trade, but a loving husband, father, and friend by choice; Ronald Frank Zauner at the age of 69 was unexpectedly taken to be with his Lord and Savior. Ronald was born on April 11, 1943 in Buffalo and was the only son of the late John J. and Ruth I. (Massing) Zauner.
Ronald lived in Buffalo for 12 years before moving to Greece where he attended Greece Olympia School and was the first class to graduate from that school in 1961. After graduation, he met Judith Ann Case at The Gleason Works and dated her for three years before they were married on August 22, 1964 in Elmira.
Attending the Third Highest Ranking Engineering School at UMR, Ronald earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1968 and was also part of the schools Army ROTC program. Shortly after graduation, Ronald did his patriotic duty and proudly and honorably served in the United States Army, doing a tour in Vietnam as a First Lieutenant in an Engineering Battalion.
Family was extremely important to Ronald and he was an extremely proud father. Surviving him besides his loving wife are a son Lieutenant Colonel Robert (Heather) Zauner USAF; and four grandchildren, Joseph, Bethany, Isabella, and Jon Isaac. Ronald also had another son, Jonathan Paul Zauner, who passed away many years prior.
Ronald always wanted to help people and really enjoyed fishing and delivering Meals on Wheels with his wife. He was also a member of the first Baptist Church, GDK, and NFCC. Additionally, Ronald was the Chaplin of the VFW Newfane Post and life member of the Wilson Historical Society. Ronald was most known for his larger than life booming voice, loving smile and generous hugs! His presence will surely be missed.
