John G. Potrubacz

MEDINA — John G. Potrubacz, of Medina, formerly of Lockport, died on Monday morning, July 9, 2012 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane. Mr. Potrubacz was born in Buffalo on November 8, 1926, a son of the late Frank and Viola (Kurant) Potrubacz.

A graduate of Medina High School and GMI, he was employed by Harrison Radiator Division of GMC and retired in 1986 as the Superintendent of Plastic Design and Engineering. He served in the US Army, was a life-member and Past Commander of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW, and Past Commander of District 7 of the VFW. He was a longtime member of the Society of Plastic Engineers. He was an avid bowler, loved his dogs and traveled extensively in the Far East and Europe.

Survivors include his wife, Roxanne (Thomas), whom he married on June 3, 1983; four daughters, Lynne LePlante of FL, Lisa LeBlanc of Baton Rouge, Lori Potrubacz and Leslie Potrubacz, both of Buffalo; a step-son, Scott Utke of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Reta Potrubacz and Sue Voelker; brother-in-law, Ronald (Betty Jean) Thomas; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann Judge Potrubacz in 1973; sister, Agnes Kerby; and two brothers, Raymond A. and Chester T. Potrubacz.

Friends may call on Friday (1-3 PM) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where his service will be held at 3 PM following visitation. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will officiate. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home following the memorial service by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. Memorials may be made to Save-A-Pet.
