Walter C. Babel II

LOCKPORT —  

Walter C. Babel II, born on March 23, 1947 in Chicago, IL, at rest on February 13, 2013.
He spent his early years in Ogdensburg, NY, graduating from Ogdensburg Free Academy HS in 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1967. Returning to Buffalo, NY, he met and married his children's mother, Dee. He joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve in the 70s and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant after 25 years of service, eventually settling in Middleport, NY. He was President of Avery-Hall Co. Walt traveled the world. He was the master of a sharp sense of humor and loved to make everyone laugh. The world is much quieter with him gone.
Walt is survived by his children, Walter III, (Kathy), Larry and Tammy (James) Manning; sister, Diane Babel-Topping; brother, Greg Antalek; sister, Gayle (Joseph) Deskovich; grandchildren, Ethan, Megan, Jake and Hunter. Loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survived by four loving aunts; and his second wife, Audrey and her children, Jeremy and Carrie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dee; father, Walter C. Babel, Sr.; step-mother, Beatrice Babel; mother, Katherine (Marshall) Antalek; and step-father, Frank Antalek.
His wishes were for cremation and interment at Arlington National Cemetery with his father. Burial plans are pending.
