Sue A. Hinkley, of Lockport, entered into rest on Friday, July 26, 2013. Born July 24, 1943, Sue was the daughter of the late William B. Thompson and Ruth (Anderson) Thompson.
After attending Lockport High School and graduating from the Doyle Beauty School as a licensed beautician, Sue worked in the local area as a beautician for many years. Other employment included Midland Discount on Main Street in Lockport. Sue worked for Fisher-Price in Medina until they closed their doors in 1997. She also volunteered at the Newfane Elementary School and Cub Scout Pack 44.
Sue was an active member of the Hartland United Methodist Church in Gasport where she served as church secretary for several years. She also served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher, nursery assistant, and was active in many church committees and women's groups.
She enjoyed crafts, baking, music and traveling. Sue was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family.
Sue is survived by her husband of 43 years, Kent E. Hinkley, formerly of Middleport; two children and grandchildren, Kyle Hinkley, his children Kyle C. and Gillian of Lockport; Lt Col Craig (Tammy) Hinkley, their children Cole, Collin and Karen of Chesapeake Beach, MD. She was anticipating the arrival of her sixth grandchild. Sue was the daughter-in-law of Agnes (late Carl) Hinkley of Middleport; sister-in-law of Saundra (late Chuck) Gibbons, Debby (Butch) Merlin, Carol (Burt) Gage and Sheila (Marc) Simmons. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased by her infant son, Kent Jr. and her sister, Gail (Thompson) Smith of Lockport.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main Street, Newfane on MONDAY, July 29, 2013, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on TUESDAY, July 30, 2013, at 11 AM at the Hartland United Methodist Church, 8019 Ridge Road, Gasport NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hartland United Methodist Church of Gasport.
