Donald Toenniessen, age 89, of Ocala, FL, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013. He was born in Wilson, NY on February 14, 1924. Donald served in the US Army during WWII. He met and married his beloved wife, Helen Toenniessen, to whom he was married for over 50 years. Donald owned and operated "Don's Grocery" in Royalton Center, NY, before retiring to Florida. Donald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocala. In New York he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gasport.
He is survived by his children, Karen (Gary) Gardner of Gasport, NY, Robert (Karen) Schultz of Bradenton, FL, Peter (Michelle) Toenniessen of Albion, NY, Molly McIntyre of Sebastian, FL, Richard (Primrose) Schultz of Ocala, FL, and Kenneth (Tara) Toenniessen of Lockport, NY. Donald is also survived by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Toenniessen; children, Ronald C. Schultz, PhD, Raymond Toenniessen, John Toenniessen and Randall Schultz.
A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL on Monday, July 29, 2013, from 5-7 PM. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4001 NE 25th Ave., Ocala, FL on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 10 AM. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 12:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478.
