Sylvia Sutton Ross of Akron, January 24, 2013. She was born on December 24, 1944 in Buffalo and was a daughter of the late Louis and Bernice (Perry) Sutton.
Sylvia owned the Ross Paint Store and studied Interior Design and Art History at SUNY, Buffalo. During the 1980's she started an interior design business named Suttonshire Court and participated in Buffalo's Junior League Show houses in 1983, 85, 87, and 89. During the 1990's Sylvia was the project manager of Akron's Main Street Revitalization and was awarded the Paul Harris Award by the Rotary Club of Akron Newstead because of her dedication to this project. She also served as President of the Akron Chamber of Commerce and worked with her husband running the Ross Funeral Home in Akron.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, David A. Ross; mother of Deborah (Thomas) Anderson of Virginia, Christopher (Lisa) Hake of Connecticut, Shandra Hake of Akron; step-mother of Michael (Deborah) Ross, Elizabeth Palizay, David A. Ross II, Charles Ross, Kathryn (John) Connell, Colleen Ross (Pat Jenkins) and the late Shawn (Dawn) Ross; grandmother of twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister of Louis (Sue) Sutton of Illinois, Edwin (Corky) Sutton of Akron and the late Susan Sloat. She is also survived by four nephews and one niece.
Friends may call at the Ross Funeral Home Gaul Chapel, 263 East Avenue, Lockport, NY on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Friends are invited to a Memorial Luncheon on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the American Legion Post #900, 9 Eckerson Ave., Akron, NY.
