LOCKPORT — Richard Lee King passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Buffalo on September 24, 1936, he was the son of the late Leo and Ethel Smith King.

Richard was a Tool & Die Maker at American Optical in Buffalo for 37 years, retiring in 1999. He served in the US Air Force Reserves, was also appointed to the Cope Committee of Political Education and was the VP of Union United Glass Workers of America for 17 years. Richard sang and played guitar with the Country Gentlemen, which later became the Country Development. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

Richard is survived by his wife, Vicky (Peabody) King; father of Michael (Mary Anne) King of South Carolina, Ronald (Yvonne Cleaver) King of Lockport, Richard King of Rochester, Lisa King of the Bronx, Leigh Ann King of Las Vegas; and his step-daughter, Rebekah (Richard) Ng of Virginia; grandfather of Jordan, Richard, Daniel (Brittnee), Corey (Shana), Kyle (Alisha); and step-grandfather of Naomi Ng; great-grandfather of Ava Loren, Anthony, Kyle Jr. and Kaiden. Richard was the brother of Carole (Keith) Anterline of Cambria.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 10 AM, in Christ Episcopal Church, 7145 Fieldcrest Drive, Lockport. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family.
