Charles G. Smith

BURT — Charles G. Smith, of Burt, NY, husband of Barbara Hare Bell Smith entered into rest suddenly, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, November 17, 1944.

Charlie retired from Harrison Radiator in 1998 after 38 years in the Methods Department. He currently was a bus aide for challenged students in the Clarence School District. He married Barbara Hare Bell April 13, 1985. Charlie has lived all his life in Newfane area. He was very active in the fire service. He currently held offices of Regional Director Area 5 for the Volunteer Fire Police Association State of New York, Financial Secretary for Niagara County Volunteer Fire Police Association, Treasurer for Haz-Mat Team of Niagara County, Sgt. of Arms for Miller Hose Fire Co. Exempts Organization and Captain of the Fire Police for Olcott Fire Company. Charlie also enjoyed yard work, spending time with his family and the Buffalo Bills.

Father of Joseph (Margo) Smith of Lockport, Patricia (Joel Napoli) Wengrzycki of Lockport, Kathleen (David) Singer of Wilson, Betty Lou (Donald) Baldwin of Lake Worth, FL, Dennis (Vicki) Bell of Sanborn, Edward (Trina) Bell of Wilson and Thomas (Angela) Bell of Syracuse. Son of Alice Smith of Newfane, NY and the late Gordon Smith. Brother of Richard Smith of Newfane and Robert (Mary) Smith of Lockport. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

No prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held SATURDAY, August 28, 2010 at 1:00 PM in Olcott Fire Company, 1691 Lockport-Olcott Road Olcott, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Barbara Smith, 1836 West Creek Road, Burt, NY 14028 for area charities would be appreciated by the family.
