J. Melvin Pearson

GASPORT —

J. Melvin Pearson, formerly of Gasport, passed away on June 22, 2014, at his home in Concord, AR, under the care of his wife and Hospice. Mel was born in Gasport on May 9, 1931, the son of the late John and Mildred (Retchless) Pearson.
He was a graduate the Royalton Hartland Central School and the Alfred University Agriculture Engineering School. In 1951 he served with the US Marine Corps in Korea. He belonged to various American Legion Posts in areas where he lived.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Marsh) Pearson; his children, David of Lockport, Ellie of Sedona Loop, FL, Douglas (Jan) of Divide, CO; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-children. He is preceded in death by siblings, Ora E. Coleman, Wayne L. Pearson and Norma G. Eisenhauer. Remaining siblings are Norm (Joan) Pearson of Lockport, Phillis Goheen of Mesa, AZ, George (Nancy) Pearson of Bradenton, FL, Lee Polly) Pearson of Dalzell, SC and Everett (Judy) Pearson of Gasport.
Private graveside services will be held at the Orangeport Cemetery Gasport at a later date. Memorials to HOSPICE or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
