Mildred Mabel (Chapman) Weaver, a longtime resident of Lockport, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014 in Briody Health Care Facility. She was 92. She was born in Gettysburg, PA on November 20, 1921, the daughter of Clyde and Ida (Ellis) Chapman.
She and her family moved to Lockport when she was a child, attending Lockport Schools. On December 9, 1939, she married Leo Weaver in Lockport. Most of her adult life, she was a stay at home mother, although in the early 1960's she briefly worked for Aluminum Brass. Mildred loved fishing with her husband, especially along the canal in Lockport. She looked forward to their quiet time together there. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and the occasional game of bingo. Above all, she loved to be with her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 74 years, Leo Weaver of Lockport; beloved daughters, Judith (Richard) Nerber, Joleen (David) Bunn, Kathy (Roger) Dickinson, all of Lockport; eight grandchildren, David (Amanda) Bunn of Lockport, Kimberly (Mark) Benedict of Medina, Richard Nerber of Lockport, Alan Nerber of Lockport, Cindy Rose of Lockport, Laney and Brian Dickinson, both of Lockport; a special great-granddaughter and caregiver, Lisa Paladino; step-sisters, Freda Palia and Helene (Irving) Lennert; brother-in-law, William Collins of Lockport; sisters-in-law, Marion Chapman of Lockport, Shirley Chapman Harbour of Florida and Catherine Chapman of Lockport; eight great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, James (late Mary) Chapman, Donald Chapman, Melvin Chapman, Edwin Chapman, Warren Chapman, Ruth (late Lewis) Lockwood, Kathleen (late Albert) Verheyn and Betty Collins.
The family will be present Tuesday from 5-8 PM in the PRUDDEN & KANDT FUNERAL HOME, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 AM. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery, Lockport.
