John Armao

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL — John Armao, father of Margo Covell, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in New Smyrna Beach, FL, at the age of 102. He was born in New York City on June 15, 1911, moved to Albany, NY in 1955, and wintered In New Smyrna Beach since 1974.

John was predeceased by his loving wife, Concettina Armao in 2010. He is survived by his three daughters, Cathy, Mary and Margo and their families; his sister, Helen, as well as cousins, nephews, nieces and their families.

John graduated from Columbia University in 1933 as a Pharmacist. He retired at the age of 70 from the NYS Pharmacy Board. He was a WW II Army vet and served in Europe from 1942 to 1945 in the Medical Corp.  In 2012, he visited the WW II Monument in Washington, DC through the Honor Flight Network. When asked his secret to longevity, he always said, "Never worry". He had a fun sense of humor and an upbeat attitude his entire life.

Funeral services were held in Albany on January 30 & 31, 2014. Burial was at the Saratoga National Cemetery. The family welcomes donations to the Honor Flight Network (http://www.honorflight.org) or a veteran's organization of your choice.
