Eugene J. "Geno" Pienta

TOWN OF PENDLETON —

Eugene J. "Geno" Pienta, age 60, of the Town of Pendleton and formerly of North Tonawanda, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his residence, under the care of Niagara Hospice. A resident of Pendleton for the past 16 years, he was the son of the late Bronislaus "Brownie" and Alice Pienta; brother of the late Donna Szymanski; and nephew of his late beloved Coci Florence and Uncle Don Schulz. Geno was a 1972 graduate of North Tonawanda High School and retired from Niagara County in 2007. He was co-owner of the Stardust Lounge in North Tonawanda. He was a member of Gratwick Hose Co. #6 NTFD, Wendelville VFD, Pendleton Lions Club and a past member of the Third Warders Club.
He is survived by his wife, Terry (nee Mercurio) Pienta; three children, Darcy (Jay) Swiatek of North Carolina, Anthony (Samantha) Pienta and Steven Pienta of North Tonawanda; two stepdaughters, Kim (Mark) Byrne of Buffalo and Tracie L. Cochran of Pendleton; seven grandchildren, Eric, Alyssa, Sean, Steven, Cameron, Cassandra and Joseph; his brother-in-law, Dennis (the late Donna) Szymanski of Tonawanda; and his sister-in-law, Lynn (Larry) Reid of South Carolina. Also survived by two nieces and two nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM on Wednesday. Friends invited. Entombment will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions in memory of Eugene may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
