Joan A. "Joanie" DeFlippo

LOCKPORT — Joan A. DeFlippo of Lockport entered into rest on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Born in Batavia, NY on October 25, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John and Jean (DiAntonio) Maniace.

Joanie was co-owner of DeFlippo's Restaurant with her husband, Gerald "Jerry" DeFlippo, where she was known as the "Hostess with the Mostess". A graduate of McCauley School of Nursing as an LPN, she was employed by  St. Jerome's Hospital, Mt. View Health Facility and Briody Nursing Home. More recently she was a home health care nurse for PSA. Joanie was a member of St. Anthony's Church, St. Mary's Church, and a longtime member of the Mother's Club. She will always be known for her gracious spirit, generosity and love for her family and friends.

Beloved wife of Gerald R.  DeFlippo; devoted mother of Gina (Alan) Marciano of Spencerport, NY, Dominick "DJ" DeFlippo, Joseph (Sarah) DeFlippo, Thomas (Jean) DeFlippo, all of Lockport, and the late David DeFlippo; cherished grandmother of Dominick, Michael, Rosa, Isabela and Alexa; dear sister of Diana (Ronald) D'Alba of Oakfield, NY and Clifford (Donna) Bagg of Batavia, NY; devoted niece of Rose (late Richard) Pastecki of Lockport. Joanie is also survived by many relatives and close friends.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3-6 PM and  Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Taylor and Reynolds Funeral Home, Niagara and Transit Sts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at All Saints Parish - St. Mary's Church, 5 Saxton St., on Tuesday morning at 10 AM. PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment, Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joanie's name to Care Net, Lockport Cares and the St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements by Provenzano Memorial Chapel, Mark C. Provenzano, director.
