Loraine T. Clark

LOCKPORT — Loraine T. Clark, age 105, Saturday, February 15, 2014, in Odd Fellows and Rebekah Health Care Facility, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Ann (Ballard) Wick. Born in Lockport, NY, May 10, 1908, which happened to be the very first Mother's Day celebrated in the U.S. She married Lewis J. Together they operated Clark's Charcoal Grill on Ridge Road in Wrights Comers, a popular summer restaurant noted for their fresh pies and park-like setting, from 1945 to 1968. In the winter, she enjoyed restoring old houses, refinishing furniture, visiting antique shops and entertaining her family to whom she was a wonderful inspiration and model example of strength and courage, reflected through her faith. She was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church.

Beloved mother to Donald (late Alice) Clark of East Aurora, Lois (late William) Steblein of        Lockport, Dr. Richard (Joan) Clark of Dover, PA, and Rita (late Patrick) McGinnis of Lockport. Sister of Cyril (Mary Ellen) Wick and Mary Hahn, and the late Florence Randall, Gregory Wick, Anna Eifert, Gertrude Gaul, Norbert Wick, Regina Erck and Harold Wick. Loving grandmother to Sandra Vogel, Steven, Michael and Lawrence Clark, Lisa Doering, David and Christopher Clark, Teresa Hayner, Paul, Kenneth, Susan and Richard Steblein, Patricia Matlock, Cynthia Ruiz-Riquer, James, Susan and Jon Clark, Timothy McGinnis and Julia DeLuca. Also surviving are 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where prayers will be offered Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport, NY 14094. Interment will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery. Memorials to the church or to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
