Richard A. "Duffy" Keihl

MEDINA — Mr. Richard A. "Duffy" Keihl, 91, of Middleport, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012, at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina.

Mr. Keihl was born August 12, 1921 in Medina, a son of the late Fred and Ethel (Chambers) Keihl.  A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served during World War II in the South Pacific from 1942-1945.  Returning home, Richard married the former Mabel Bougas on September 29, 1946 in Akron. He worked at E&M Enterprises and then at Harrison Radiator in Lockport, where he retired in 1987.  Mr. Keihl also worked part-time as a Police Officer in the Village of Middleport from 1974-1980.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mabel Keihl of Middleport; daughter, Debbie Keihl, also of Middleport; son, Michael Keihl of Lyndonville; one grandson and two great-grandsons; also  several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, James Keihl and his sister, Florence Vanty.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10AM at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center St., Medina. The Rev. Kevin Wing will officiate. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and the Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Keihl to a charity of one's choice.
