Jeanette Gerner Travers

LOCKPORT —  

Jeanette Gerner Travers, age 84, died on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, NY. She was born on January 13, 1929 in Lockport, to the late Joseph and Agnes (Hebeler) Gerner.
Jeanette spent her younger years in Lockport where she met and married her husband of 54 years, the late William (Bill) Travers. The family moved to Binghamton to work and returned to Lockport upon retirement. Jeanette was a passionate reader and loved spending time with family and friends.
Surviving her are two sons, William J. (Lori) Travers of Aplachin, NY and John Patrick Travers of Cherry Creek; sister, Adeline Finley of Newfane; grandchildren, Lindsay, Lauren, and Lacey Travers; several nieces and nephews; and special niece, Jeanne Schmidt. Jeanette is predeceased by her sisters, Lucile Umhoefer, Thelma Scott and Geraldine Holly; and a brother, Billy Gerner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 18, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Burial will follow at Cold Springs Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Ross Funeral Home Gaul Chapel, 263 East Avenue, Lockport.
