John M. Verguson, of Lockport, NY, husband of the late Isabelle Lucas Verguson, entered into rest Friday, March 8, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House. He was born in Barton, NY, May 24, 1924, the son of the late Elmer and Emily Mulford Verguson.
He was a Navy veteran of WW II serving his country on Destroyer USS Smith during the Battle of Santa Cruz.
John married Isabelle Lucas in Middleport, NY, February 16, 1946. She died December 24, 2001. He worked for Harrison Radiator for over 40 years as a machine repairmen, retiring in 1986. He had lived in Lockport since 1999, coming from Hartland.
John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Father of Darlene (Roger) Wallace and Michelle (Frank) Oakes, all of Lockport, NY. Grandfather of Bret Wallace, Lindsay (Steven) Saraf and Adam (Ashley) Oakes. Great-grandfather of Ethan, Emily and Jackson. Brother of Jean Dolan of New Hampshire and the late Elmer, Charles, Richard and Sonny Verguson, Pearl Cartier, Dorothy Sims, Mary Ferington and Betty Verguson. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and his loving companion, "Lizzy".
Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main Street, Newfane, NY, SUNDAY 7-9 PM and MONDAY 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held TUESDAY at 1:00 PM at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport, NY. Burial will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY; or Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport, NY, would be appreciated by the family.
