BUFFALO — Shirley S. Miller, formerly of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY.

She was born in Lockport, NY, on December 3, 1933, the daughter of the late John and Clara (Dean) Spring.

Mrs. Miller graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1951. She was employed at Sears and with Niagara Textile in account receivables and as a secretary at the Union Sun & Journal. She later started a cake baking business, where she baked all types of cake for over 20 years.

Mrs. Miller was the secretary at St. Paul's United Church of Christ for 40 years and was an active member of St. Paul's Church Women's Guild, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School.

She was a member of the Sanborn Historical Society, the Niagara County and Shawnee Farm and Home Bureaus. Mrs. Miller enjoyed traveling and taking classes at NCCC.

She was the wife of the late Reuben F. Miller, who died in March of 1999.

Mrs. Miller is survived by one son, Kenneth (Joyce) Miller of  Sanborn, NY;  two daughters, Ann Elizabeth (Brent) Mank of  Lyndonville, NY  and Wendy (James) Caldwell of Newfane, NY; ten grandchildren, Heidi Mank, Andrew (Stacy) and Maxwell (Amanda) Mank, Christina Miller, Linda LaFountain, Jacob and Joseph Miller, Douglas (Christie) Caldwell, Keely (Kenneth) Say and Francine (John Peck) Caldwell; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Spring; also many nieces and nephews; dear and close friends. She was the sister of the late William, Benjamin and Raymond Spring, Joyce Wohleben and Norine Lawrence.

The family will be present on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ - Shawnee, 3921 Mapleton Road, North Tonawanda, NY, with the  Rev. Ronald C. Lord officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Paul's Church or the Sanborn Historical Society. Interment at Wheatfield Cemetery, Town of  Wheatfield, NY.
