Joann Sparks

COTTLE, WV — Joann Sparks, 79, of Cottle, WV, went to be with our Lord on April 2, 2013. She passed away at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, WV, after a long struggle with health problems. She was born on May 11, 1933 in Braxton County, WV to the late William J. and Delphia (Eagle) Sutton. She was preceded by her husband of 49 years, Elza Dorn Sparks; siblings, Eddie Sutton and Darlie Cunningham.

Joann was a former employee of Bickford Box, Feree Plastics and Harrison Radiator, all of       Lockport. After retiring to West Virginia, Joann was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards and bingo with family and friends.

Joann is survived by daughters, Nancy (Larry) Norman of Flatwoods, WV and Cookie Drake of Lockport; son, William (Phyllis) Sparks of Lockport. Joann is survived by nine loving grandchildren, Michelle (Gene Jr.) Elson, Donna (Joe Schultz) Sylvester of Sanborn, Nancy (Mike) Palmer of Woodstock, GA, Gary (Yvonne Downs) Drake of Niagara Falls, Jennifer (David Page) Norman, Robert (Kelly) Drake, BillieJo (Robert Barrett) McKernan, Jason (Montica) Sparks, all of Lockport, and Tabatha (Jeff) Moore of Wilson. Joann is survived by 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Joann is also survived by 11 siblings, two of Lockport, Victor (Maria) Sutton and James (Barbara) Sutton.

Funeral services were held at Whites Funeral Home, of Craigsville, WV, on April 5, 2013, with Pastor Jenny Ross officiating. Interment followed at Craigsville Cemetery.
