Eugene Szpilewski

MEDINA —

Eugene Szpilewski passed away on October 17, 2013 in Orchard Manor, Medina, NY. Born in Bialystock, Poland on May 28, 1940, he was the son of Boleslaw and Albina (Wiernikowski) Szpilewski.
Eugene worked for 19 years at GM Foundry in Tonawanda where he was a supervisor, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, farming and gardening, shooting pool, bartending at the family bar, The Ski Lodge, watching hockey, working on cars, riding motorcycle and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 49 years, Felicia (Czekaj) Szpilewski of Lockport; father of Robert (Lisa) Szpilewski, Steven (Heather) Szpilewski, Thomas Szpilewski, all of Lockport and the late Joseph Szpilewski; grandfather of Morgan, Kennedy, Braelyn, Krystian and Peyton; brother of Bruno (Irene) Szpilewski, Walter (Michelle) Szpilewski, Aniela (late Bill) Gruszewski, Alina Szpilewski all of St. Catherines, Ontario and Valerie (Charles) Merritt of Mexico. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, October 20th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 21st at 10 AM in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 5442 Tonawanda Creek Rd., North, Lockport. Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. Memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association, Buffalo Office, 315 Alberta Dr., Suite 102, Amherst, NY 14226 would be appreciated by the family.
