Jeffrey A. Hayes

LOCKPORT — Jeffrey A. Hayes, 58, of Lockport, NY, entered into rest Monday, August 12, 2013. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur and Maude (Haddix) Hayes.

Jeff loved music and was magically talented. He loved fishing, hunting, movies, games, cooking, eating, and all of you that are going to greatly miss him.

Jeff graduated from high school and served in the Marines. He then worked in Florida shrimping and cooking for nine years. Jeff then came back to New York and worked at two halfway houses cooking, doing maintenance, listening and counseling for the next 13 years. His last chapter was spent working in heating and cooling, and then back to cooking, catering, repairing, painting, and doing whatever he could for whoever he could help. His compassion for people rang loud in his time with us. He will be greatly missed by family and his hundreds of friends that he touched daily and treasured.

Jeff sadly leaves behind his best friend and soul mate, Donna Eick of Lockport, NY; his beloved daughter, Shelby Lynn Hayes of Lockport, NY and his son, Michael Hayes of Rhode Island. He is also survived by his siblings, Pat (David) Holloway, Bill (Phyllis) Hayes, Tim (Sharon) Hayes, Linda (Phil) Wiepert, Jackie Bancroft and Duane Hayes. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Gary Okel Hayes.

There will be a celebration of Jeff's life beginning at 4:00 PM Monday, August 19, 2013, at the Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4487 Lake Avenue, Lockport, NY. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6 PM. Please bring happy memories.
