Mary Ellen Heacox

BUFFALO — Mary Ellen Heacox entered into rest on May 11, 2013, at E.C.M.C., after long illness. Born in Adams Center, NY on October 19, 1942, she was the daughter of Charles and Doris (Hopseker) Champion.

Mary Ellen worked at Lockport Memorial Hospital as a nurse for over 31 years where she worked at the newborn nursery, helping others bring new life into the world. She touched many lives in the nursery. She was the past National Commander of the Navy Club of the United States Auxiliary. Mary Ellen also was a member of Ship 110 Navy Marine Club and the Zion Lutheran Church in Gasport where she was a member of the choir, where she loved to sing. She was a an avid crafter where she would give her crafts away when she would travel. She also enjoyed traveling, NASCAR and college football.

She was the beloved wife of Gary Heacox. Cherished mother of Mimi Kay Moreno and Heather Gay (David) Barnard. Cherished grandmother of Connor Barnard. Dear sister of Ruth (James) Haas and her Loving Pet Flower.

There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Zion Lutheran Church in Gasport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Lockport       Volunteer Company Fire Rescue. Arrangements by the TAYLOR & REYNOLDS Funeral Home, corner of Transit and Niagara Streets.
