Helen Toenniessen

OCALA, FL —

Helen Toenniessen, age 90, of Ocala, FL, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. She was born in Gasport, NY on August 2, 1922. She met and married her beloved husband Donald Toenniessen to whom she was married for over 50 years. Helen owned and operated "Don's Grocery" in Royalton Center, NY before retiring to Florida. She loved to play cards, bake and entertain friends. Her family affectionately referred to her as the "Hostess Supreme". Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocala. In New York, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gasport.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Toenniessen of Ocala, FL; children, Karen (Gary) Gardner of Gasport, NY, Robert (Karen) Schultz of Bradenton, FL, Peter (Michelle) Toenniessen of Albion, NY, Molly McIntyre of Sebastian, FL, Richard (Primrose) Schultz of Ocala, FL, and Kenneth (Tara) Toenniessen of Lockport, NY. Helen is also survived by her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children, Ronald C. Schultz, PhD, Raymond Toenniessen, John Toenniessen and Randall Schultz.
A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL on Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 5-7 PM. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4001 NE 25th Ave., Ocala, FL on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10 AM. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 12:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478.
