Mary A. Dutcher Magin was 90 years young when she passed away in Largo, FL on November 23, 2013. She began her life in Newfane, NY and graduated from Barker Central School in 1941. While living in New York, Mary was president of the Democrat Women's Club and participated in a legislative conference and a dinner reception for the governor and Mrs. Harriman. She was also a sales representative for the New York Telephone Co. in the Lockport business office. In 1967, she moved to the sunshine state and she enjoyed St. Petersburg so much that she never left the area. During her time in Florida, Mary was an active member in the Catholic Church. She began by being a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Vice President of the senior club in charge of all programs. She was also the treasurer and on the board of Village Green Mobile Home Association for six years. She later became a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister, member of their Women's Club, and as a secretary and on their board. She so enjoyed her ministry of the sick, homebound, and bereavement; Sisters of Christ. From 2001 to 2002 she served on the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women's Board of lower Pinellas Deanery. Mary's altruistic deeds were recognized and she received the Hand Maiden of the Lord Award in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Magin; and sons, Richard L. Daigler and Dennis Daigler. Survived by daughter, Kathleen (Samuel) Schrift; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; sister, Cecilia Swarts of Niagara Falls NY; and four nieces. A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday, November 29th at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Flowers gratefully declined.
