John Joseph Coleman, Jr.

OCEAN PINES, MD — John Joseph Coleman, Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Ocean Pines, MD on           December 3, 2013. Born February 20, 1940 in Pittston, PA, he leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Dolores (Dee, nee Dauses). He is survived by five children, John J. Coleman III (Sherrie) of Rochester, NY; Kathleen Dangle (Mark) of University Park, MD; Michael Coleman (Susan Wolf) of Columbia, MD; Michelle Traxel (James) of Annapolis, MD; and Andrew Coleman of Lockport, NY. John was the proud grandfather of John J. Coleman IV; Matthew, Nathan and Hayden Dangle; McKenna and Conor Traxel; and Joshua and Trevor Coleman. He is survived by his brother, Patrick F. Coleman (Rhoda); his sister, Ann Marie McDonnell (Carbra J. III) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John J. Coleman, Sr. and Regina (nee Donnelly); and his godson, Carbra J.      McDonnell IV.

Raised in Baltimore, John graduated from Loyola High School and Loyola University        Maryland and served as an officer in the US Army. He and his family moved to Western NY where he spent more than 25 years in Lockport, NY. He retired from Harrison Radiator in January of 1999 to Ocean Pines, MD, where he was an active member of several organizations, such as the Ancient Order of the Hibernians (AOH), Elks Club, American Legion and Delmarva American Irish Club. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who shared his life experiences and love for sports.

John was a three-year lung transplant survivor. His family would like to thank the John Hopkins Lung Transplant Team for extending his life and for their loving care and support. A donation in his memory may be made to Johns Hopkins University in honor of Dr. Jonathan Orens, Dept. of Medicine, 5200 Eastern Ave., MFL Center Tower, Suite 356, Baltimore, MD 21224.

A memorial service will be held on December 14, at 9:00 AM at St Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD. Arrangements are in the care of the Burbage     Funeral Home in Berlin.
