David J. Wetherwax

LOCKPORT — David J. Wetherwax, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. Born on August 2, 1936, in Batavia, NY, he was the son of Clayton and Mary  Stringham Wetherwax. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1959. On November 7, 1959, he married the former Beverly Johnson. He had worked at the former Simonds Saw and Steel and retired in 1998 from Dunlop Tire. David enjoyed hunting, bowling, golfing and going to casinos.

Besides his wife, Beverly Johnson Wetherwax, he is survived by a son, Scott (Joan) Wetherwax of Middleport and daughter, Stacey Wetherwax of Sanborn; three grandchildren, Scott Jr., Brett and Paige; two sisters, Katherine (Donald) Schaffer and Jean (Ronald) Drock; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, David "Butch" Wetherwax and a sister, Audrey Hodgins.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Niagara Cerebral Palsy, 9812 Lockport, Rd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304; or Aspire of WNY Arts Program, 2356 North French Rd., Getzville, NY 14068.
