Donald Joseph "Duck" Judge, 86, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Lockport and West Seneca, NY, died December 1, 2013, after a short bout with cancer. Born September 2, 1927, he was the fourth of ten children of the late Richard Judge and Mary Ellen Moran. Don attended St. John the Baptist and St. Patrick Schools in Lockport and graduated from Lockport Senior HS in 1945/46. After a brief stint in the US Navy as WWII was ending, he worked for General Ice Cream Corporation, later Sealtest Ice Cream, in Lockport, Niagara Falls and Buffalo, from 1946 until 1970. In Tampa, he worked in the refrigeration equipment business until 2012.
Duck was an avid sports fan and in his younger days played on several amateur and semi- professional baseball, softball and football teams in Lockport. He was an enthusiastic golfer. Throughout his life, and wherever he lived, he loved to play cards.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Dick, John and Marty, and sister, Joanne Berhalter. He is survived by his wife, Catherine of Clearwater, FL and his sisters, Mary Teresa Lenihan, Margaret Danna (Bill) Kirsch, Rita Haley, all of Lockport, and Anna (Dick) Herlan of Newfane, and Betty Crane of Escondido, CA. He is also survived by his six children, Peter (Christina) of Rock Hill, SC, Mary Ellen Henderson (Mack McGuiness) of Mint Hill, NC, Jack (Charlotte) of Charlotte, NC, Patrick (Maureen) of Bethel, VT, Timothy (Chumly) (Carole Ann) of Dayton, OH, and Joseph of Albemarle, NC; 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Don donated his body for medical research. The family will make arrangements for a memorial at a later date. Services to the family by Dobies Funeral Home, Tarpon Springs, FL.
